Alexander “Coach Alex” Pearson was born and raised in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where his athletic journey began at a young age. He started playing football and baseball in grammar school, followed by wrestling in the 7th grade. From there, Alex quickly developed a passion for discipline, competition, and personal growth that would shape his path forward. As a high school athlete, he earned All-Conference honors in wrestling at 171 lbs., along with All-Conference and All-Area recognition as a running back.
Following graduation, Alex continued his football career at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, where he further developed his competitive edge and leadership skills.
Since 2008, Alex has dedicated himself to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, training under world-renowned practitioners including Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro and Emily Kwok. He is currently a black belt under Tim Blackstone of Rebel BJJ, reflecting years of discipline, technical mastery, and commitment to the sport.
Alex resides in Northfield with his wife, Professor Jessica Benson of St. Olaf College, and their two sons, Rory and Eilo. Their home is full of energy and personality, shared with their dog Ziggy, their cat Lilo, and a lively flock of five chickens.
Alex’s approach, both in business and on the mat, is grounded in dedication, determination, and trust, principles he instills in every person he coaches.
